From 2019 November 14 to 18, the Salon Art+Design returned for its 8th edition and focused on contemporary art, showcasing the best of unique design by modern art galleries in the world. The design event featured more than fifty leading art and design galleries from fourteen countries and spotlighted exclusive design trends.
During four days, there was a marvelous atmosphere at the Salon Art+Design’19: the success of this design event lies in the quality of stunning curated selections and eclectic contemporary artworks. Discover some of the highlights and get impressed by these craftsmanship masterpieces!
David Gill Gallery
Present at this design event‘s edition, David Gill’s aim was to blur boundaries between the decorative and fine arts. During his global presence at design exhibitions, the contemporary art gallery usually exposes creative works by excellent designers, artists, and architects who create original design artworks for the gallery.
Apparatus – Library Room
For this year’s edition of the design event, Apparatus Studio, which was founded by Gabriel Hendifar and Jeremy Anderson, presented the Interlude collection: furnishings that wouldn’t look out of place in a modernist music hall. Their main goal is about exploring lighting, modern furniture, and objects in immersive environments, understanding its historical and cultural aspects.
At Salon Art+Design’19 Friedman Benda’s highlights key narratives that intersect contemporary design, craftsmanship, modern architecture, cutting-edge technological research, visual and conceptual art.
Presenting the best of unique design at Salon Art+Design’19, Galerie BSL exhibited Pia Maria Raeder’s new STARDUST collection including stunning craftsmanship pieces: a four-seater bench, two-seater benches, and a mirror. The recognized German artist borrows from nature’s organic forms to create her otherworldly yet functional pieces, and for this collection, she operates hand-carved beechwood elements coated with silver-based metal and waxed concrete.
During the design event, this contemporary art gallery featured conceptually and aesthetically modern designers and emerging artists, encompassing the value of craftsmanship, traditional techniques, and new technologies.
Mathieu Lehanneur is one of the few contemporary designers with a genuine multi-disciplinary approach to creativity: his unique design projects stretch the realms of product design and object to architecture, craftsmanship, and technology. At Salon Art+Design’19 he created a new site-specific installation for the design event using a combination of new and old designs.
Presented at one more edition of this design event, Negropontes’s main goal was to share the passion for craftsmanship, bespoke furniture, and modern art pieces, always reconnecting with French influences.
The Future Perfect
One of the most striking highlights: this contemporary art gallery presented a selection of one-of-a-kind seating pieces and immersive stools by the Venezuelan-born ceramist Reinaldo Sanguino, covered in energetic, vividly-colored graphics.
Alexandra Champalimaud with Charles Burnand
The creative work by Alexandra Champalimaud was displayed at the design event in New York: the designer is hyper-attuned to how people move, sit, and interact with space. This made her capsule collection with organic modern forms and cozy fabrics for Charles Burnand one of the most remarkable exhibitors.
